This is a large river system surrounded by snow capped mountains scenery and temperate rain forest. These tours are done on demand, by arrangement to suit clients. A half day is recommended for this tour.

Jacksons Bay
This remote spot was the site of an attempted European settlement in the 1870s. Only about 20 people live here now, but there are several walks you can do around the stunning, rugged coastline. There is a small fishing fleet operating from the jetty, so make sure you have a meal at The Craypot, right on the beach - New Zealand's freshest fish and chips with the world's greatest view! Take a walk to Jackson Head and see the seals on the rocks or even a stroll to Smoothwater Bay.
In addition to the many activities on offer in the area, there are also a number of cafés, restaurants, souvenir shops, a Jade shop, supermarkets, gas stations, postal services, and repair shops available to cater to your every need.
